JD started a firestorm back in March of this when asking what is the goal of Independent Artist. JD is currently on a media run and discussing this on the Big Facts and Joe Budden Podcast.
I know rage bait is the thing, but I think with detail and harsh reality it's actually easy to understand Jermaine Dupri's question and why it may look like he's championing or advocating for artist to sign to major labels. Let's talk about it.

BUT FIRST!
NEW Cardi B "Imaginary Players"
NEW Joey Bada$$ "Dark Aura"

This morning, I was sent a post by this cat Ryan Upchurch and it was meant to "expose" Jellyroll. Listen to the clip 5-6 times. and to be real, I don't see the real problem, BUT I do think a great "Music Business Conversation" can be had because of it, so that's the lead topic tonight!
Also, I want to ask this question to all of you. What can Drake do to gain back his American Women Fanbase? We'll talk all that and a little more! LFG!

YO! Sorry for the delay, it's been a lot going on, but I'm only here to talk music!
I saw A.R Rahman for the first time ever and wow...What an incredible experience! It got me to thinking about black artist, music and shows and how we need to have more control over our culture's music and dare I say less inclusive... I also got a list of peaceful black music for you to listen to.
And after that, I totally contradict myself and tell you about some of the albums I've been listening to and loving that I think you should listen to!
Larry June and Cardo Got Wings "Until Night Comes"
Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist "Alfredo 2"
Key Glock "Glockaveli: The Don"

This time 20 years ago, I had just moved from the West Burbs of Chicago, IL and was preparing for a new life in Atlanta. I moved with some homeys literally right on the border of Roswell and ATL off GA 400 and the nonstop talk around the city was how Young Jeezy was about to drop his debut album.
I won't cap....I wasn't feeling the participation AT ALL! Today, we talk 2005 Atlanta, TM 101 and how Jeezy did something that changed my mind on artist releases forever. LET'S GET IT!

The year is 1995...It's July and the hip-hop community is still reeling from the shocking and untimely death of Eazy-E. There was also great speculation around his new group that he signed to Ruthless Records.
With Creepin On Ah Come Up, being a success, the pressure was on for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to deliver. Especially with Eazy being gone and and many feeling like he was the secret sauce.
Today, we go back in time to relive this album and all the moments in time it created.
Do Bone Thugs-N-Harmony worship the devil?
What was the perception of Cleveland?
Crossroad vs Tha Crossroads and which version do you have?
Is E.1999 a classic? Why?
Where is Bone Thugs-N-Harmony ranked against the best ever?
These questions and much more on this episode

Listen to my voice New York. Listen Deeply, You are getting sleepy. On July 18th you're gonna get up go to the record store and you're going to buy 2000 B.C!
Canibus is the original Internet Emcee/Blog Era Rapper and I have a heck of a sidebar on this topic. Canibus was one of my absolute favorite rappers of the late 90's early 2000's. I was overly excited to buy his 2nd album since the first one left a lot to be desired.
From the Battle with LL, New Wyclef distain and The DJ Clue Promo Freestyle, nothing was going to stop me from copping and getting my ears on this! In a time where the "Sophomore Jinx" was a hot topic especially in regards to rap music, Canibus was one of few artist of his time to actually defeat the stigma; However, it largely fell on deaf ears and personally, I feel it's one of the most disrespected album in hip-hop ever!
Let's talk the album, the progression of Canibus and how labels and marketing truly make or break careers no matter how we feel about talent and skill. And of course we'll talk about how some emcee's may truly get in their own way and how that can not do you any favors long term.
